Jean-Baptiste Mathulin begin to play piano alone few years... Then he enters at the Conservatory of Saint-Etienne with Roland Meillier. He pass the exam of end musicals studies. He meets Réna Sherechevskaya, who learn to him the russian technical tradition on piano. Thanks to her he's admit at the high National Conservatory of Lyon in Hervé N'Kaoua et Thierry Rosbach piano class. He finish with great mention level for his piano recital. He studies also musicologie at the university and own a master.

He took master advices during his formation as Géry Moutier, Aldo Ciccolini, Pascal Amoyel, Michel Béroff, François-René Duchâble, Menahem Pressler, Jacques Rouvier. He works specifically Chopin the specialised pianist Jean-Marc Luisada.

Jean-Baptiste Mathulin won a lot of international piano competition. He is finalist of the Lions Club International competition 2007, first prize of the International Montrond les Bains competition 2009, and he won the first prize of International Chopin competition in Brest 2010, including the special city prize.

Jean-Baptiste Mathulin take part at lot of French, Polish and Swiss festivals. For instance he plays at the opera of Saint-Etienne "Piano Passion" as soloist the concerto for four pianos by Bach with Romain Hervé, Jean-Marc Luisada et Abdel Rahman El Bacha, and the orchestra of Saint-Etienne. As soliste also he plays the Schumann concerto with the conductor Mark Schuster of "Between sand and sky".

Jean-Baptiste Mathulin is the partner of double bass Julien Mathias, they are « Alter duo ».

Jean-Baptiste Mathulin holds the Certificate of Aptitude for Artistic Teaching.
